Assessment 1 – Discussion Board Series (20%)
Students will post responses to discussion questions provided by the instructor that are related to module content. Students will also respond to posts created by their peers. They will be evaluated on the quality of their posts, their responses to their peers, and their engagement in academic discussion.
Assessment 2 – Adam and Eve: A Case Study (40%)
In this multi-part assignment, students will be given a simulated case study in human pregnancy. The case study will follow a couple’s journey from diagnosis of pregnancy until parturition and post-partum. Students will be responsible for answering questions that will be used to evaluate their understanding of material covered throughout each section of the course, as well as their ability to research the literature on the topic. This assignment will prompt students to consider unique aspects of reproductive health, normal pregnancy issues, and pregnancy complications specific to their assigned case study.
Assessment 3 – Key Concepts Quizzes (20%)
Upon the completion of modules 1-3 and modules 4-6, students will take a multiple-choice and short answer quiz to ensure they understand the fundamental concepts that have been covered in the preceding modules and can apply such knowledge to interpret and solve problem-based questions.
Assessment 4 – Multimedia Presentation - Group Assignment (20%)
In this assignment, students will connect ideas learned in the modules to create a presentation expanding on a topic provided by the instructor. Such topic will be related to maternal-fetal interaction and pregnancy complications. They will present their findings in a multimedia presentation, and are expected to include research information obtained from relevant scientific papers.
