As we prepare for the 2024-2025 academic year and the upcoming course registration period, the Bachelor of Health Sciences program is introducing a new advanced course selection process for on-campus BHSc students who are entering their 4th year of studies. As our on-campus cohort of students has grown, this process has been developed to help provide students with the opportunity to be pre-registered in 4th year option courses that are of interest to them prior to their enrolment appointments.
The advanced course selection survey will be sent to your official Queen’s email address and will be open from May 27th – June 17th, 2024, at 9:00AM ET. If you have any questions throughout this process, please reach out bhsc@queensu.ca .
You will be asked to rank your top six choices for your 4th year option courses in order of preference (course, term of offering, and mode of delivery), with number one being your top choice. Please ensure you have completed or are completing the required prerequisites for all courses you choose. If you are missing a prerequisite, do not choose the course during pre-selection as our office will not be able to override prerequisites in order to pre-enrol you. Take your time and ensure you follow the instructions, as the Programs Office will not accept changes by email or make changes on your behalf once you submit your preferences.
This process is not first-come, first-served, so there is no need to rush through your selections. You are not guaranteed your top choice, even if it is the only course that you have chosen. If there is a certain course that you want to take that has multiple offerings (term/format) in the upcoming year, you can choose multiple offerings of the course as your choices (in order of your preference) to increase your chances of being able to take the course.
We will do our best to accommodate all fourth-year course requests, but our primary aim is to ensure students have the required courses to satisfy their degree requirements.
Core: Reserved seating will be available for all on-campus BHSc students in the blended core courses.
Options: You need 18.0 units from the list(s) found on the following page; https://bhsc.queensu.ca/bhsc/program-and-courses/curriculum . Note that students who were admitted prior to September 2022 may choose to complete the archived version of the curriculum found at the bottom of the page. Please navigate to the ‘Year 4’ tab (We recommend opening this link in a new tab).
We will try our best to pre-register you in as many of your top 400-level choices as possible. We recommend that you place courses that are required for any learning track(s) you are pursuing high on your list. Note: If you submit multiple responses to this survey, only your FINAL (most recent) submission will be considered.
Due to limited enrolments, if you drop a course during your enrolment appointment, the Program Office will not re-enrol you. You may need to add yourself to the wait list until there is an opening in the course, which may affect the completion of your degree.
